Everyday Hawaiian Words to Share with Your Little Ones
At Lolo Kiko, we believe in teaching kids about kindness, friendship, and new cultures in fun, simple ways. One special way to do that is by learning a few everyday Hawaiian words together! Hawaiian words are beautiful, easy to say, and filled with meaning. Here’s a list of some of the most common words you and your keiki (kids) can use and enjoy at home.
🌺 A Few Hawaiian Words to Know:
Aloha (ah-LO-ha) — Hello, goodbye, and love. It’s more than a greeting — it’s a way of showing kindness and warmth to others.
‘Ohana (oh-HAH-na) — Family. And not just your relatives, but close friends and loved ones too. ‘Ohana means no one gets left behind!
Mahalo (mah-HA-lo) — Thank you! A simple and sweet word to show gratitude.
Keiki (KAY-kee) — Children or kids.
Lei (lay) — A flower necklace often given at celebrations to show love, welcome, or friendship.
